“A hair topper changed my life,” says Alta Linton, who suffered hair loss for most of her adult life before turning to Tymeless Necessity Hair for help.
As a child, Alta had thick, healthy hair but her locks started falling out after she was diagnosed with polycystic kidneys and underactive thyroid in 1988.
“It was a tremendously emotional time in my life,” she says. “I did not cope well with my hair loss. In the beginning, it was more bold patches but as the areas of hair loss grew, I became very depressed. I withdrew from my social life and even stopped visiting family and friends.”
Today Alta, who is now 58 years old, has very little hair left and the strands she does have are fine and brittle.
“Over the years, out of desperation, I have tried almost any hair loss product on the market, and have spent a small fortune on products that never worked. I even went to an alopecia clinic for cortisone injections but saw no improvement,” she adds.
Just when she thought things would never improve, Alta’s life changed after watching a programme on TV of ladies with hair loss using “toppers”. It led Alta to research more about hair toppers and ultimately meet the team at Tymeless Necessity Hair.
Changing lives – one hair topper at a time!
Tymeless Necessity Hair was established in 2019 by Rani Chetty – a mother, visionary, businesswoman, and hair expert with over two decades of experience in the hair industry, and trained in the latest hair replacement products, and internationally acclaimed hair growth systems.
Hair options for cancer survivors are especially close to Rani’s heart. Rani always knew that someday she wanted to assist people to regain their confidence and so Tymeless Necessity Hair was born in 2019.
Wigs and hair toppers for hair loss

“I couldn’t be happier with my hair topper”
Alta says Rani and her team were “brilliant” and “knew everything there was to know about wigs and hairpieces”.
“After a consultation, it was decided that I have a topper custom-made for me,” says Alta. “I got my topper recently and I cannot explain just how much my self-confidence has grown while wearing it. The topper is so much lighter and more natural than a wig. Honestly, no one has been able to tell that the beautiful hair, on the top of my head, isn’t really mine!”
“If you are struggling with hair loss, know that you’re not alone. Make an appointment with Rani and the team- she really cares for people and is willing to assist you with good advice. She has endless patience and treats you like you are the most important person on this earth. I am blessed to have found Tymeless Necessity Hair.”
What is a hair topper?
A hair topper, sometimes known as a half wig or top piece, is a hairpiece that is ideal for thinning around the front and crowing area. A hair topper can vary in size depending on the coverage you need. A hair topper is similar to a wig, just smaller, and is used to disguise hair loss and is suitable for both men and women.
A customised hair topper can be made to blends with your own hair texture and colour and inserted by a few snaps of the built-in clips. Toppers are a perfect solution for anyone with hair loss or hair thinning by providing more volume and density.
These hairpieces shade different areas of hair loss depending on the coverage you want and are a great option for those who do not wish to opt for a full wig. The hair topper can be clipped into your own hair or glued or taped to the scalp – this requires more work but is a more permanent solution.
Clips are sometimes unsuitable for people with thinning hair or sensitive scalps because they are too uncomfortable.
What are hair toppers made of?
Monofilament, lace, and silk are used to make hair toppers. The base can be any size depending on the client’s head circumference. They can be made in a variety of lengths and thicknesses as well.
The staff at Tymeless Necessity Hair make hair toppers by hand. It takes about two weeks to make a hair topper, which can be parted in any direction and looks very natural.
How hair toppers differ from wigs
Wigs are hairpieces that cover your entire head. Under the cap, your hair will be hidden, while the wig’s hair will be visible. Hair toppers, on the other hand, have a smaller base of the hair that can be clipped onto a specific area of your head.
Hair toppers are ideal for concealing hair thinning in the crown or front of the head. Because your own hair is visible, hair toppers blend in with your own hair and appear very natural. For perfect blending, get a hair topper with the same hair colour as yours (unless the base size is very large, in which case the hair doesn’t have to match perfectly). They’re great for a variety of hairstyles. Hair toppers are not as bulky as wigs and are therefore more comfortable to wear.
How long do hair toppers last?
Your hair topper by Tymeless Necessity Hair can last forever, provided the topper is serviced every eight months and if you take good care of it. You can prolong the life of your hair topper by storing it in a box when you’re not wearing it (which will prevent it from collecting dust) and also using sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners.
How to care for & maintain your hair topper
Oiling your topper once a week also helps as the hair does not produce any natural oils. . Apply a few drops of Argan, Moroccan, or almond oil to your palm and work evenly into the hair topper and let sit for a few minutes, or select a recommended product from Tymeless Necessity Hair.
Sulfate-free products will protect the hair from drying out as it doesn’t strip oils from the hair. Using deep conditioners, leave-in conditioners and serums regularly will help the hair to stay soft, as it is not being nourished by your scalp oils like your own hair is.
Remember: If you wear your topper daily, it’s best to wash it every two or so weeks.
Conclusion
Hair Toppers are effective solutions for hair loss at different stages and for ladies who want more volume to the crown or top area of their heads. Taking proper care of your hair toppers can extend their lifespan and keep them in good condition.
