At Tymeless Necessity Hair, paying it forward never grows old!
The team at Tymeless Necessity Hair joined GROOTfm 90.5 for an extra special broadcast.
Beandri Booysen of Pretoria is one of just about 125 people worldwide who suffer from Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome. It’s a rare genetic disorder that causes sufferers to age eight times faster than other children.
Her parents, Bea and Pieter, first noticed there was something wrong with their little girl when she was three weeks old. Her skin was thin and she wasn’t appearing to be growing or gaining weight like other infants her age. However, despite taking Beandri for a check-up, doctors couldn’t determine what was wrong.
It was only when Beandri was 11 months when the doctors called and asked the family to bring Beandri in for blood tests. The blood samples were sent to Germany for testing.
Shortly after Beandri’s first birthday, a diagnosis was confirmed – she had Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria syndrome.
Progeria is an extremely rare, progressive genetic disorder that causes children to age rapidly, starting in their first two years of life when slow growth and hair loss begin to appear. While the condition is caused by a single gene mutation known as lamin A and is usually passed down in families, the Booysens have no family history of the disease.
Tragically, there’s no cure for progeria and the expected lifespan is about 13 years, but ongoing research shows some promise for treatment.
Marie Venter, a friend of the Booysen family, approached Groot FM to help them arrange for Beandri an unforgettable 16th birthday ‘princess ball’!
They had already come up with a dress – which will be designed by the very famous Anel Botha. Also a ‘venue’ in Montana, namely La Perna Wedding Venue. Marie mentioned to GROOTfm that they still need help with decor and cutlery, a photographer, a vehicle (Beandri would very much like to ride a limousine), dessert and a birthday cake, and a brand new blonde wig.
Tymeless Necessity Hair – a proud partner of Cancer South Africa (CANSA) – immediately stepped in to help fulfill Beandri’s last wish, making her a long blonde wig crafted from 1005 real hair in time for her birthday on November 20th.
“It was such an honour for all of us at Tymeless Necessity Hair to be able to help this brave and bubbly little girl,” says Rani Chetty, founder of Tymeless.
“Beandri’s story of courage, hope, and positive outlook on life is a reminder that nothing should ever hold you back from achieving your dreams.”
Tymeless Necessity Hair Is Helping Change Lives
Studies confirm the psychological damage caused by hair loss can be just as devastating as any severe disease, yet thousands suffer in silence. Tymeless Necessity Hair – was born out of necessity to help hair loss sufferers feel and look beautiful.
The family-run business has dedicated its entire product line to assisting those struggling with hair loss and partial or total balding due to conditions and illnesses such as Alopecia areata, hormonal imbalance, hereditary hair loss, and scalp psoriasis, thyroid disease, cancer treatment, and more.
A leading supplier of superior quality 100 percent human hair wigs, wefts, closures, bangs, fringes, buns, toupees, topettes, frontals, clip-ins, weaves, braids, buns, extensions, and other hairpieces for all ages, cultures, and ethnic groups, Tymeless Necessity Hair offers customised options with a fast turn-around time and professional expert advice.
“Hair loss can affect a person’s mental health – elevating stress and anxiety and reducing your quality of life. Many wear the bald with pride and poise. Bald is beautiful; of course it is. But for some of us, we never felt beautiful bald. And that voice needs to be in the conversation, too,” adds Chetty.
Extremely passionate about assisting hair loss sufferers due to cancer, radiation, and chemotherapy, Tymeless Necessity Hair offers South Africans hair-wear options they never dreamed possible. Every product is created with comfort in mind, is hypo-allergenic, and can be worn even with hair regrowth.
“Although our clients need different services, their underlying needs are much the same: to be treated with respect and dignity; to feel good about their appearance, and to be pampered now and then,” says Chetty.
“We cater to all requirements based on market demand. We offer a personalised service, guiding clients through every step of choosing which hairpiece product best suits their needs and lifestyle. Our versatile and durable styles and products are aimed at creating a variety of looks. We also offer private – and free – consultations, professional service, and experienced technical advice.”
While losing one’s hair may be frightening, many women enjoy trying styles and colours in a wig that they would never have dared to try with their own hair. Wigs always look good – even when you are feeling low. With our sunny climate, it’s simply not practical for cancer survivors to wear hats or scarves all season long. When choosing a wig or hairpiece, comfort and subtle beauty are two characteristics that cancer patients genuinely appreciate.
A Conscious-Driven Company
Tymeless Necessity Hair ensures all products are sustainably sourced and ethically manufactured goods. Mainly from Chennai, Tymeless Necessity Hair gets its supply of beautiful virgin Indian hair from the temples, where “tonsuring” is a traditional practice.
In South India, it is a traditional practice for women of the Hindu faith to sacrifice their beautiful long hair in return for the prayers that have been answered. The temple authorities collect all the hair and periodically auction it to the various bidders. The proceeds from the auctions are spent in various charitable forms by the temple authorities. Indian Remy Hair comes in various textures (straight, silky, wavy, and curly), which gives the best possible styling and installation options for added hair solutions.
“Indian Remy Hair, by virtue of its length, softness, quality, and texture, wins the market a great demand. For cancer survivors, it is an obvious choice. Compared with Brazilian Remy Hair, Indian Remy Hair is finer; not only is it naturally airy, bouncy, and light, but it can also be styled and curled very easily. In addition, its integration is better than Brazilian Remy Hair because of its characteristics of fine density,” explains Rani.
The company has recently developed several hairpieces designed to be fitted and worn without clips, combs, or messy glues. This is a godsend for any wig wearer, especially to cancer patients or those suffering from alopecia.
Tymeless Necessity Hair offers a range of services
Tymeless Necessity Hair is also behind the introduction of pre-cut/pre-styled (ready-to-wear) wigs to the public, eliminating the guesswork of how the wig will fit and saving consumers a great deal of time. The new collection showcases several SmartLace designs you’re sure to love!
Tymeless Necessity Hair also receives human hair donations (ponytails) to make high-quality and lifelike wigs for cancer Survivors requesting them. These wigs are distributed, as requested, to CANSA Care Centres all over the country and given to cancer Survivors who need them most.
