Can't get your wig to fit? Your wig looks bulky? Your wig itches? Wearing a wig for the first time might seem daunting. We’ve listed the top five wig hacks and tips you need to know when it comes to choosing a wig and keeping your hair looking natural.
Wig hacks and tips #1
Want to know how to make your wig look natural?
The key to making your wig look natural is what you do UNDER IT. A lumpy wig is a dead give-away that those long locks aren’t yours. Before placing a unit on, braid your own hair – either in a plait or in cornrows. This ensures a flat foundation underneath.
For those suffering complete baldness, it’s still important to always wear a wig cap as this helps ensure the wig fits comfortably, protects your new hair while it’s growing, and keeps those precious baby hairs in place and untangled.

Smooth Talker…Get each strand frizz-free
Smooth hair is always trendy, even when choosing a curly wig.
The best way to ensure your strands stay smooth is to turn your wig inside out when washing it and use a moisturising shampoo and conditioner.
Allow the conditioner to sit for two to five minutes before rinsing thoroughly in cold water. Then turn the wig right-side-out and gently squeeze the water out. Do not wring or twist the fibres as this can cause them to tangle or break, and never brush your hairpiece while it is wet.

Itchy and scratchy under your wig?
A low-quality wig is more likely to itch and feel uncomfortable. There are a few tips we can give you on ensuring your wig is comfortable.
Firstly, don’t skimp on cost. Rather invest in a wig that is well-made and 100% human hair. A cotton or silk liner can be worn under your wig, which will help absorb moisture and heat, making your head feel more comfortable. Organic witch-hazel applied to your scalp every so often will also reduce irritation.

If you’re not a fan of full wigs and are looking for something that takes just seconds out of your day, our 3/4 headband wigs of medium length boast 100 percent human hair with either a black or nude material-covered Aliceband. Simply slide on the Aliceband wig or headband hair extension, and you’re ready to go.
This hair product is sewn into the Aliceband itself for a secure fit, but Tymeless Hair & Wigs do offer the option of having this piece fitted with velcro at the edges so that you can attach the piece to other accessories like turbans or hats.
Beautiful and natural-looking, the styling options our hairband wigs offer are endless.
You can wear the hairband wig forward at your hairline, or add a clip-in bang fringe for a brand new look.

Choose the right wig lace colour
Choosing a lace-wig with a hairline that matches your own skin tone is extremely important and goes a long way to ensuring the wig looks natural. For a perfect look, you want to match the lace colour with your scalp complexion and NOT your skin tone. This is because when you part the unit, you want it to appear as your natural scalp colour. Although transparent lace wigs are ideal for those who have creamy and fair complexions, while a light brown lace colour is more suitable for those with darker skin complexions, not everyone’s scalp is the same colour as their skin complexion. We offer a range of front lace-wig colours. If you’re unsure of what colour front-lace to choose, our professional stylists will guide you through the options available, giving you step-by-step advice, and ensuring you find a wig or hairpiece that leaves you feeling fabulous!
