Β
When your wig misbehaves and spoils your summer fun, chill out. There are ways you can tame unruly locks and keep your favourite wig looking fabulous! For frizz-free beach days and perfect sun-kissed locks, we reveal the hottestΒ wig care tips.
Β
Style It Right
With so many different wig styles and lengths available at Tymeless Necessity Hair, youβll be lost for choice. Bob wigs are cooler for your scalp during hot, sweltering days, as are pixie cut wigs. Wigs with less volume, too, will be cooler to let air flow in.Β Β
Top Tip:Β Consider the pixie, an angled bob, a fun wavy bob, or even a straight wig that has been thinned down for cooler hair wearing.Β
Blonde it up
As far as colour goes, blonde is always a favourite hair colour for summer. From cool silver blondes to sun-kissed blondes, we have wigs of all colours and can also customise any wig ordered.
Top Tip:Β Your human hair wig colour wonβt fade in the sun like the colour in natural locks will. If youβve ever wondered if blondes do have more fun, now might be the time to find out. Lighter hues wonβt absorb the heat of the sun and can create a fun new look!
Β
Choose wigs with breathable caps
Choosing a wig that allows your scalp to breathe is very important. Proper breathability of the materials will keep your scalp comfortable and dry. A net wig cap is also a great option; this will not dry the hair as cotton and nylon do.Β
Β
Bling it on
Hats and scarves not only look stylish, but they also protect the longevity of your wigs during summer. Look for accessories made of natural fibres like straw, linen/cotton, or even hats with mesh panels for cool coverage.Β
Top Tip:Β A velvet wig grip band (not cap) is ideal for summer, as it is soft and doesnβt cover your whole head. You can also use a silicone gripper band.Β
Β
Stop The Frizz
Controlling frizz is always an issue, especially in summer, when the humidity soars. Using anti-frizz shampoo, conditioner, treatments, heat protection products, serums, and oils on your wig are the answer! Ask your hairdresser for the right solution for your wigβs specific texture.
Top Tip:Β While washing your wig too often can cause damage; itβs critical to rinse your wig during the hotter summer months.
Β
Turn Down The Heat
Always use heat protection products when using your hairdryer, straightening iron, or curling tong! Heat damage is challenging to repair, so instead, prevent it. Make sure that when you buy a heat protection product, it is specifically designed for the purpose.Β
Β
Protection Is Key
Wigs need extra protection against the elements. Always shampoo and treat/condition your wig after being in the pool or sea. Use protective products before going in the sun, like you would for your natural hair. Wear a hat when you can or take an umbrella to the beach. Use sulphate-free products and products with UV protection as they are gentler and will protect your hair against the sun. Plaits and ponytails will also help reduce exposure to the elements.
Top Tip: Brushing a wig that is still wet after washing or washing with boiling water can cause wig shedding. Follow the proper way of washing for a lasting relationship with your precious hairpiece.
Β
No More Sweaty Betty
You are more likely to sweat in summer, so having dry shampoo in your bag is a great idea. As perspiration can damage your wigβs fibres, we suggest shampooing your wig after a hot day or a workout.Β
Top Tip:Β Unfortunately, the chemicals in pools and salt in ocean water can cause damage to the fibres of your wig. Instead of wearing a wig while you swim, wear a cute swim cap or water-friendly headscarf.
